Behind Our Doors
Hooga Social Enterprise was established in 2017 and is run by ABCD Innovation Center. It is located in Kalavan - a small village in Gegharkunik Province in Armenia. The main mission of Hooga SE is to make Kalavan a more attractive place for young people, full of development opportunities.The long-term goal of Hooga SE is to make Kalavan a hub for non-formal education both for local community and foreign professionals.
Hooga Guest House is one of the structures functioning under the Hooga brand. It is a place where you can educate yourself, have a rest and just enjoy the breathtaking landscape.
You will have a unique opportunity to live in an authentic Armenian village and feel not only the nature, but also the culture of this country. This place is perfect for everyone who seeks a good place for meditation, photography, movie making, freelancing, exploring the country life and just travelling.
Another part of Hooga SE is Hooga Coworking. Our modern Coworking Space offers a variety of plans for individuals or small businesses. Equipped with a wide range of amenities and outstanding facilities, our office is the perfect place for brainstorming, networking and getting work done. HOW TO GET TO US
FROM THE AIRPORTS
If you fly to Zvartnots (Yerevan) or Shirak airport (Gyumri) we can arrange to have a private car pick you up upon your arrival (up to 4 people in one car). The cost is 15,000 AMD(around 30 €). This solution is the most convenient as public transport is difficult to navigate and not entirely developed in Armenia.
FROM YEREVAN
If you come from Yerevan there are few options to get to the Hooga House.
TAXI
Taxis in Armenia are cheap. The baseline price is 600 AMD for trips under 4-5km, and after that, 100 AMD per km. You can download an app called ggTaxi onto your smartphone (this is the Armenian equivalent of Uber) and you can use this app to order a taxi with a certified driver. The distance between Yerevan and Kalavan (either through Dilijan or Chambarak) is around 140 km, but the road between Dprabak and Kalavan (almost 9km) is an off-road drive so you need to come to the Dprabak-Kalavan crossroad and our staff will pick you up from there to Hooga House without any additional cost (to pick up OR drop off from Dprabak to Kalavan is a service already included in our price).
WITH YOUR OWN CAR
There are two options to reach Kalavan first is through Dilijan (138 km) and the second through Chambarak (151 Km).
Note: the road between Dprabak and Kalavan (almost 9km) is an off-road drive.
TRAIN + CAR PICK-UP (DURING THE SUMMER)
Finally, there is also a train service from Yerevan to Lake Sevan offered in the summer. The line to Hrazdan (1 hr 30) gets extended to Sevan (2 hr 20) and Shorzha (3 hr 30) from approximately mid-June until the end of September. You have to get off at Drakhtik train station (right before Shorzha), and from there our staff can pick you up and take you to Hooga House (price 5 000 AMD).
TRAIN + HIKE (DURING THE SUMMER)
For this option, you should take the same train from Yerevan and get off at Arevik train station and hike from Arevik to Kalavan. Check the GPS file or you can send an inquiry and our guide can meet you at the train station and take you to the Hooga House (price for the guide is 5 000 AMD including a village tour).
